Collaborative Mural at Girtin Glebe Primary School Library

These photo's represent a recent collaborative mural I completed during the Christmas Holidays with artist Allan Claydon. I took the lead in this project, communicating with the head teacher Chris Butler to understand and interpret his vision for the space. While also maintaining my own personal desires for the space. With then the added combination of working  collaboratory  with artist Allan Claydon.

These murals are significant to my practice as they underpin ideas I have around representation and bringing art to educational spaces. I worked as an art teacher for three years in rural Norfolk prior to coming to London to complete the master's. Working in a rural area's highlighted how little cultural capital students are exposed to and how limited their access is to art. Although these murals sit somewhat outside of my more traditional painting practice, the idea's surrounding public projects and public permeance are points of interest to me. They feed into my views surrounding  the role of an artist and allow me to provide students with art that they can easily access.
